Voting for the Assembly Elections in Delhi will be held on 5 February 2025, and the election results will be declared on 8 February 2025. While campaigning, all political parties are trying their best to get the support of the public. In this context, a video clip of former Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal is going viral. The video is of a public meeting in which he is saying, ” I just came to know, there is a water problem in every colony … isn’t it? There is a sewer problem in every colony … isn’t it? The roads are broken … isn’t it? There is filth all around … isn’t it? ” Users are sharing this video with the claim that Arvind Kejriwal is highlighting the shortcomings and failures of his own government. Sharing the video on X, a user wrote, “Kejriwal explaining what AAP Govt did in 10 years.”
However, as we investigated, we came to know that the viral video was incomplete. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to the original video streamed on the official YouTube channel of the Aam Aadmi Party on 20 January 2025. According to the caption, the video is from a public meeting in Vishwas Nagar, Delhi. From the timestamp 25:10, Arvind Kejriwal starts talking about the MLA of Vishwas Nagar. He said that the people of Vishwas Nagar made a mistake by electing a BJP MLA. For the past 10 years, he has done nothing but fight with AAP. In this context, Arvind Kejriwal said that he came to know that there’s a problem with water and sewer in every colony of Vishwas Nagar, roads are damaged, and there’s filth all around.
Kejriwal again said, “I told him (BJP MLA Om Prakash Sharma) to get CCTV cameras installed, get mohalla clinics built. We were ready to provide water, but he didn’t take the water. So you think, if you want fights and quarrels for the next five years, then vote for him”. Pointing towards the AAP candidate standing on the stage, Kejriwal said, “If you want work to be done, then vote for him.”
The same video was live-streamed on the official Facebook page of Arvind Kejriwal on 20 January 2025.
A comparison between the viral video and the original video can be seen below.
This makes it clear that in the viral clip, Arvind Kejriwal was criticizing the BJP MLA of Vishwas Nagar, Delhi, not AAP.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video doesn’t show Arvind Kejriwal admitting the AAP government’s shortcomings and failure in Delhi. In the original video, Arvind Kejriwal was criticizing the BJP MLA of Vishwas Nagar, Delhi.
