Old Video From Lebanon Going Viral As The Accident In Jaipur.

14 people died in the explosion caused by the collision of LPG gas tanker and container in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, on 20 December. Against this backdrop, a video of an explosion went viral on social media claiming it to be the scene of the explosion after the collision of an LPG gas tanker and container in Jaipur.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral video is old and not from Jaipur. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a video similar to the viral video on the YouTube channel of DW News uploaded on 5 August 2020. This makes it clear that the viral video is not recent.

According to the news, this incident took place in Lebanon, where dozens of people were killed in a massive explosion.

In further investigation, we analysed the screenshots from the viral video and YouTube video. A white building can be seen in the viral video, while the same white building is visible in the video uploaded on the DW News YouTube channel. This makes it clear that both the videos are same. 

Moving forward, we found the viral video on the YouTube channel of NBC News on 5 August 2020. According to the news, dozens of people were killed and thousands were injured in the massive explosion in Lebanon.

Further, we found the viral video on the Global News YouTube channel uploaded on 8 August 2020. According to the report, there was a massive explosion in the ammonium nitrate warehouse in Lebanon’s capital Beirut. More than 137 people were killed and thousands were injured in the explosion.

This makes it clear that the viral video is old and not from Jaipur.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The video does not show the explosion due to the collision of an LPG gas tanker and container in Jaipur. The video is old and from Lebanon.
