This is an old image from Bangladesh. It has no connection to Gaza

An image of a baby’s body being carried by a dog between its jaws is going viral on social media with a claim such as “Heartbreaking photo of a dog carrying a dead child to eat in Gaza, killed by Israel”.

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a Facebook post uploaded on 15 January 2024. According to the post it was taken in front of the Mymensingh Medical College in Bangladesh.

Moving forward, we found the same news on the local news website Nayashatabdi also. It has published details of the incident, stating that the image was taken near the blue corrugated fence visible in the video, in the new building of the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MAMEC), which is still under construction.

As per BanglaNews report, “The picture is old, M. Zakiur Rahman, Deputy Director of Momec Hospital, told Banglanews, “I have seen the viral picture. It is a picture from 2015. This is not a new incident. Moreover, such an incident has not happened in our hospital.”

Thus, taking account of all these evidences, we can understand that an old image from Bangladesh shared as Gaza. 

Conclusion- Fact crescendo found the claim made along with the viral image to be False. This is an old image from Bangladesh. It has no connection to Gaza
