Scripted video goes viral as real incident of Hindu girls kidnapped by Muslim man

A video claiming to depict the rescue of two girls allegedly held hostage in a house has gone viral on social media. The video shows a man and a woman forcibly entering a flat, assaulting the suspected kidnapper, and rescuing the girls. Social media users have shared the video with a communal twist. The video showed the girls crying and covered in bruises, who were allegedly kept in a cupboard after being abducted. The caption of the post states, Muslim boys kidnap Hindu girls. Love jihad”.

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation by conducting a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to an extended version of this viral video uploaded to the YouTube channel Naveen Jangra on 12 February, 2023. 

The video shows a disclaimer at the 22-second mark that states the video “should be considered for entertainment purposes only.” it also clarified that the information presented was not intended as advice or factual analysis, warning viewers that any actions inspired by the video were at their own risk, and the creators would not be held liable for any associated losses or damages.

Further, to confirm the details, we scanned through other videos uploaded on the YouTube channel and found many scripted videos like the viral video. The verified YouTube channel has around 752K subscribers, and lists 549 videos so far. We also found a link to Naveen Jangra’s Instagram account in the About section of his YouTube channel. In the bio of his Instagram page, he states that he is a video creator.

So, it is clear that the viral video claiming to show a man rescuing Hindu girls kidnapped by a Muslim is not a real incident, only a scripted video.
