However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The video is incomplete. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by conducting a relevant keyword search. This led us to a tweet from AAP leader Manish Sisodia on 23 December 2024. Replying to a tweet from BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, who uploaded the viral video on his official X handle, Manish Sisodia uploaded a longer version of the video. The longer version made it clear that Arvind Kejriwal was talking about the constitution of the Congress party, not the Indian Constitution or BR Ambedkar.

Moving forward, we found the full version of the video on the official YouTube channel of the Aam Aadmi Party, uploaded on December 3, 2012. In this video, Arvind Kejriwal can be heard talking about the constitution of AAP. He was saying how the constitution of AAP is different from the other parties. In this context, he said, “Consumption of alcohol is prohibited for the Congress party workers according to their party Constitution…we were sitting and someone said that whoever wrote the constitution must be drunk while writing it.”

The viral clip can be seen from the timestamp 4:46.

According to the description of the video, Arvind Kejriwal was addressing people at Rajghat on 25 November 2012.

According to reports, a police case has been registered against some social media users for sharing the clipped video of Arvind Kejriwal.

This makes it clear that the viral video is clipped. Arvind Kejriwal was talking about the Congress Party constitution in the original video.

Conclusion

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. Arvind Kejriwal didn’t say that BR Ambedkar was drunk while writing the Indian Constitution. He was talking about the constitution of the Congress Party in the original video.
