Many users commented and reacted to this viral post.

However, our investigation found no evidence supporting the existence of a “2025 Wrapped Lead Coordinator” position at Spotify.

Fact-Check

We first reviewed Spotify’s official careers web page, which lists all current job openings globally, and found no mention of such a role. Furthermore, there is no indication that Spotify has announced or plans to create a specific position solely focused on Wrapped. We have also emailed Spotify and expect to update with their clarification.

However, the viral ‘X’ message that sparked the rumour was later clarified by its original poster, who admitted the post was made in jest. In a follow-up X post, he stated, “I didn’t realise people hated wrapped so bad this year. I really just made this as a joke, mate…”

Despite the clarification, the post’s widespread reach and plausible tone led many to take it seriously.

Earlier Spotify Layoffs: The controversy surrounding Spotify Wrapped 2024 cannot be viewed in isolation. Earlier this year, Spotify underwent a significant round of layoffs, cutting 17% of its workforce in an effort to reduce costs and streamline operations.

According to Rolling Stone, these layoffs may have impacted the team responsible for developing Wrapped, potentially contributing to the shortcomings noted by users.

Observers have speculated that the reduced workforce may have limited Spotify’s ability to innovate or address glitches, adding context to the dissatisfaction surrounding this year’s Wrapped experience.

Conclusion

Although this viral post emerged amid discussions about Wrapped 2024’s performance and Spotify’s recent workforce reductions, there is no evidence of Spotify recruiting a “2025 Wrapped Lead Coordinator.” The creator later confirmed that the viral social media post was merely satirical.
