The video shows Maulana Arshad Madani, president of Jamiat Ulama Hind, during his recent visit to Bangladesh. 

A video showing a group of men in a helicopter wearing skullcaps, typically associated with men belonging to the Islamic community is going viral on social media. The post claims that the person in the video is Maulana Sajjad Nomani, a member of the Working Executive Committee of the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board. The post further alleges that Maulana Sajjad Nomani campaigning in a helicopter provided by Mahavikas Aghadi in Maharashtra. The caption of the post reads, “The MVA gave Maulana Sajjad Nomani, along with his entourage of other Islamists, free helicopter rides across Maharashtra for Muslim polarisation during the campaign for the recent state election”.

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation by conducting a keyword and reverse image search on Google and the results led us to we found this video on YouTube. According to the title of this video this person is Maulana Arshad Madani.

Maulana Arshad Madani is the headmaster of Darul Uloom Deoband and the president of Jamiat Ulama e Hind. He is also the Vice President of All India Muslim Personal Law Board. We also got another video on YouTube of him flying in a helicopter. As per the title of this video, this video was taken while he was traveling in Bangladesh.

Using this hints, we searched for news reports of this incident and we came across a news related to Arshad Madani’s visit to Bangladesh on the media website Ourislam24.com. According to the news, Maulana Madani visited Bangladesh from November 15 to November 23.

Maulana Arshad Madani’s official Facebook page has also shared footage of him coming to Bangladesh from a helicopter. 

But who is Maulana Sajjad Nomani? 

Maulana Sajjad Nomani is an Islamic scholar. He is also a member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB). He is also the spokesperson of AIMPLB. Recently, in a video, he requested Muslims to vote for the Maha Vikas Aghadi in the Maharashtra elections. Following this, the BJP created a controversy by raising the allegation of ‘vote jihad’.

In Maharashtra, did he really put the demands before the Congress allies? 

The demands mentioned in the post first appeared in the name of an organization called All India Ulema Board . If they want support against NDA, Mahavikas Aghadi has raised 17 demands like repeal of Waqf Board Amendment and ban of RSS. Nowhere are the reports saying that Maulana Sajjad Nomani made these demands.

Did the Congress alliance really ignore these demands and give him a helicopter for election campaign in Maharashtra?

There are no reports that Congress has agreed to these demands. Apart from that, Maulana Sajjad Nomani stated on Twitter that he did not present these demands to the Maha Vikas Aghadi, and that he has no affiliation with the All-India Ulema Board.

Fact crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be Misleading. A video of Maulana Arshad Madani in a helicopter from his recent Bangladesh visit is falsely shared as Maulana Sajjad Nomani campaigning for the Maharashtra Assembly elections.
