However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was misleading. The video was not from Bangalore. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

Going through the video, we could see “Sitilink” was written on the bus.

We searched for Sitilink and came to know that Sitilink Buses, or Surat Sitilink Limited, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Surat Municipal Corporation.

Taking this clue we searched using relevant keywords. This led us to a video report published on TV9 Gujarati channel. The description of the video read, “Rally against mob lynching incidents turns violent in Surat, stones pelted on buses.”

The video contains footage similar to the viral video.

Moving forward, we found a report published in The Times Of India on 6 July 2019. According to the report, a rally was organised to protest against mob lynching in different parts of the country. The rally later turned violent as several people were not allowed to go beyond Makkai Pool to submit a memorandum to the district collector.

ANI tweeted the incident on X on 5 July 2019.

“Karnataka State Police Fact Check” also debunked the claim on 26 September 2023.

This makes it clear that the viral video is old and from Surat, Gujarat.

Conclusion

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video is not from Bangalore. The video shows a rally in Surat in 2019 that went violent.
