However, as we investigated, we came to know that the video had been altered. In the original video, the singer was singing a Hindi song. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a similar video posted on X on 19 November 2024. But, the audio of this video was different to that of the viral video. The tweet was written in the Bengali language, the translation of which reads, “A road show was organized at Tekhali Bazaar in Nandigram-1 Block under the initiative of CPI(M) against the rampant violence against women in the country and the state, against the increase in the prices of essential items including petroleum products, record unemployment, demanding houses for the actual recipients of the housing scheme, and demanding 100 jobs.”
In this video, the singer can be heard singing the Hindi song “Neel Gagan Par Udte Badal”.
The tweet mentioned that the video was from a roadshow in Tekhali Bazar in Nandigram. Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search. This led us to an Instagram post where the video was uploaded on 17 November 2024. There also the singer could be heard singing the Hindi song “Neel Gagan Par Udte Badal”. The Instagram user, Paritosh Pattanayak, is a CPIM party member.
According to the caption, the video is from a roadshow in Tekhali Bazar, Nandigram.
We found the same video on the Facebook page of Paritosh Pattanayak with the same caption on 14 November 2024. This Facebook post contained some other photos along with the video. In this video too, the singer could be heard singing the Hindi song “Neel Gagan Par Udte Badal”, not the “Ram Bhajan”.
This makes it clear that the viral video has been edited. The singer was not singing Ram Bhajan in the viral video.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the viral video has been altered. In the original video, the singer was singing a Hindi song “Neel Gagan Par Udte Badal”, not the “Ram Bhajan”.
