Edited video goes viral as a little boy sings in memory of his late mother on America’s Got Talent 2024

The viral video is a combination of two videos. The child in the viral video is not real; it was created by the YouTube channel Talent America Son.

A video of a child singing an emotional song is going viral on social media with a claim that, he is singing a tribute to his late mother on the stage of American reality show America’s Got Talent’s (AGT) latest season. The caption of the post states, “No one could hold back tears boy shakes up got Talent 2024 with song to his mother lost in a boat”.

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation with a reverse and keyword search on Google and the results led us to a YouTube channel “Talent America Son,” where the viral video was uploaded on 4 October 2024. The description mentions that the video featured a virtual avatar created for entertainment with no connection to the real Got Talent show or its participants. All characters and events in the video are fictional and intended as a creative experience. So, it is clear that the video was made for “entertainment purposes”.

Next, we checked the about section of the channel and it stated that the content was fictional and, any resemblance to real people, places or events is purely coincidental.

We conducted a reverse image search on the frames of the judge’s reaction of the viral video and the results led us to a video from August 2015 on X Factor – UK official YouTube channel. It was uploaded with the caption, “Josh Daniel sings Labrinth’s Jealous | Auditions Week 1 | The X Factor UK 2015 The X Factor UK 2015”. The video showed contestant Josh Daniel’s performance of artist Labrinth’s song Jealous, which he dedicated to his late friend.

Upon closely observing the video, we found that the judges’ and audience’s reactions matched with the viral video. 

So, it is evident that a young guy, not a little boy, was performing in memory of his friend. This confirms that the viral video was created by editing together two videos. The child in the viral video is not real, it was created by the YouTube channel “Talent America Son” and uploaded on 04 October 2024. A compilation of two videos was edited to make the viral video.
