Donald Trump won the presidency for the second time, defeating incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris on 6 November, 2024, in the US Presidential election. Donald Trump will be the 47th President of the United States. Following this, a video of former House Speaker and Democratic Party leader Nancy Pelosi was going viral on social media, in which she can be heard saying, “There is no point in saying good morning because it certainly isn’t.” Allegedly, this was Pelosi’s reaction to the Trump victory. In the video, she is wearing a red blazer with a gold pin as she stands before a podium with flags behind her.

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to the same video shared on Twitter on 24 June, 2022, confirming that it was not after the 2024 elections.

Moving further, we found an ABC News video report that contained this video. As per the report, Nancy Pelosi said this in a press conference in the wake of the Supreme Court’s ruling overturning Roe versus Wade in June 2022, holding that there was no longer a federal constitutional right to an abortion.

We found several news reports regarding this speech of Nancy Pelosi. According to the Independent report, “Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi gave an impassioned speech as Roe V Wade was overturned, marking an end to 50 years of abortion law in America. The US Supreme Court ended constitutional protections for abortion care, dealing a blow to women’s rights”.

The Deadline report published on 24 June, 2022, states that the then House Speaker Nancy Pelosi attacked the Supreme Court’s landmark ruling overturning Roe V Wade. “There’s no point in saying good morning, because it certainly is not one,” Pelosi told reporters on Capitol Hill, as she called the ruling cruel, outrageous and heart-wrenching.

Thus, taking account of all these evidences, we can understand that an old video of Nancy Pelosi falsely shared as her reaction to Donald Trump’s victory.
