Donald Trump has won the U.S. presidential election securing the required 270 electoral votes, while his opponent, Kamala Harris, received 224. His victory makes him the second Republican in 20 years to serve a second term, following George Bush’s presidency from 2001 to 2009.
Against this background, a video of Donald Trump after his victory in election is going viral on social media. During his speech, suddenly the crowd started chanting some name loudly. Users are claiming that during Trump’s speech, the crowd shouted PM Modi’s name.
However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be misleading. The crowd did not shout PM Modi’s name. They were shouting ‘Bobby’, a nickname of Robert F Kennedy.
Fact Check-
A relevant keyword search on Google led us to a news report by Hindustan Times on 6 November 2024. At his election night party, Donald Trump, who was set to win the presidency again, joked about Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s role in his potential future administration. Trump said that while Kennedy would work on health issues, he wouldn’t be involved in decisions about oil and gas. Trump added a light-hearted comment, telling Kennedy to stay away from the “liquid gold” (oil) and enjoy himself otherwise. Trump’s words were, “Bobby, stay away from the liquid gold. We have more liquid gold than any country in the world. Other than that, go have a good time, Bobby.”
It appeared that Bobby is the nickname of Robert F Kennedy’s nickname. As soon as Trump mentioned Robert F Kennedy’s (Bobby) name, crowd started chanting Bobby-Bobby.
After searching on YouTube, we found Donald Trump’s speech on Republic world’s YouTube Channel. From 18.48 minutes onwards, Trump can be heard saying, “We have been so much together and today you showed up in record numbers to deliver a victory like no other. This was something special and we are going to pay you back, we are going to do the best job, we are going to turn it around. It’s got to be turned around fast and we are going to turn it around in every way, with so many ways that this will be remembered as the day the American people regained control of their country. So, I want to say that on behalf of this great group of people, these hardworking people. These are fantastic people and we can add a few names like Robert F Kennedy Jr. He came in and he is going to help make America healthy again.”
Soon after this, people started applauding, cheering and chanting ‘Bobby-Bobby.’ From this, it is clear that the crowd did not Chant PM Modi’s name but were cheering for Robert F Kennedy (Bobby).
You can find the viral clip from 18.48 minutes to 19.55 minutes.
Apart from this, we went through the whole program and found that PM Modi’s name was not mentioned anywhere. Below you can see the complete video.

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be misleading. The crowd at Donald Trump’s victory speech event did not chant PM Modi’s name. They started chanting Bobby-Bobby, which is a nickname of Robert F Kennedy, after Trump mentioned his name.
