Old Video From Visakhapatnam Is Going Viral As The Dead Body Of The Victim Of Kolkata Rape Case.

Recently a video went viral on social media where the hospital staff could be seen standing with folded hands while a dead body was brought out. An elderly person wearing a spectacle could be seen with folded hands, walking in front of the stretcher. Sharing the video, users are claiming that the person is the father of the Kolkata rape victim and the dead body on a stretcher is of the rape victim of Kolkata.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the viral video is not related to the Kolkata rape victim. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. As a result, we found a video on YouTube with the same claim. The video was uploaded on 21 August 2024. In the video, the “Pinnacle” name was clearly visible.

The body of the Kolkata rape victim was sent to a government hospital, but in the video, the hospital looked like a private hospital. 

We searched to see if the body of the female trainee doctor was sent to Pinnacle Hospital and if there is any such hospital in Kolkata. But one such hospital was known to exist in Visakhapatnam. Its logo was the same as the hospital logo in the video we reviewed. This makes it clear that this video was taken at Pinnacle Hospital in Visakhapatnam.

We again conducted a reverse image search and as a result, found a news report published in News18 Hindi on 2 June 2024. The report contained the viral video. 

According to the report, Vipin Mehta, the son of Praveen Mehta from Jolore, Rajasthan, was brain-dead in an accident in Visakhapatnam. His organs were donated by Praveen Mehta. Following this, it was stated that 300 employees of the hospital where Vipin Mehta was being treated paid tribute to Vipin Mehta’s body.

Further, using relevant keywords, we found a news report published in Dainik Bhaskar three months back, which had the same viral video. According to the report, the man in the video is Praveen Mehta from Jalore, Rajasthan, who donated the body of his deceased son Vipin Mehta in Vishakhapatnam. The doctors and nurses of the hospital paid tribute to Vipin Mehta.

From this, it’s clear that the viral video is not related to the victim of the Kolkata rape case.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video is old and from Visakhapatnam. It’s not related to the victim of the Kolkata rape case.
