Fact Check-

We started our investigation by conducting a keyword and reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a Facebook page of ISKCON Youth Forum, Sylhet. The same viral video was shared there on 20 June 2022. The caption states, “It’s not food, it’s a treasure of crores of rupees, look how restless people are for a little food. “You also come forward in the activities of ISKCON Sylhet next to the flood victims”. This indicates that the viral video is not recent.

Moving forward, we have come across the same video on Jago Hindu Parishad – JHP’s Facebook page also. The same viral video was uploaded there with the caption, “It’s not food, it’s a treasure of crores of rupees! See how restless people are for a little food. “ISKCON” stands by flood-affected people in Sylhet.

In further search, we found that 9 districts including Sylhet were affected by floods in May-June 2022 in Bangladesh. During this, 74 people died.

Additionally, we checked social media handles of ISKCON Bangladesh, but we did not find any post or video regarding the relief work done during the recent floods.

So, it is clear that the viral video shows ISKCON devotees disturbing food among flood-affected people in Sylhet, Bangladesh, is in June 2022.
