The Image Of A Man With A Severed Head Is Going Viral With Misleading Claims.

Recently an image of a person holding a severed head went viral with the claim that he beheaded his sister’s rapist and walked into the police station. Sharing the image on X, a user wrote, “His sister was raped. The next thing he did is he chopped the rapist’s head and took his head to the police station. W man, king behaviour 👑”

Fact Check 

We started our interview by conducting a reverse image search and as a result, we found the image on a website. The report was published on 2 October 2018. According to the report, the incident took place in Mandya. The accused Pashupati, who chopped his colleague Girish’s head, was taken into custody by the police.

Taking this clue, we conducted a keyword search on Google and found a report by The Times of India published on 3 October 2018. According to the report, a man named Pashupati walked into the Malavalli police station in the Mandya district of Karnataka with the severed head of his friend Girish. The accused told police that Girish had spoken I’ll of his mother, which sparked a clash between the two, and Pashupati beheaded Girish and surrendered before the police.

From this, it is clear that the claim is misleading. The man in the image did not behead his sister’s rapist; rather, he beheaded his friend for making derogatory remarks against his mother.

From our investigation, we can say that the claim made with the viral image is misleading. The man in the image did not chop his sister’s rapist’s head. According to reports, the man shown in the image is Pashupati who chopped his friend Girish’s head after the victim allegedly made some derogatory remarks against the accused’s mother.
