However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral video is not from the Paris Olympics 2024. Here’s the fact check.

In the beginning, we searched for India’s medal tally in the Paris Olympics 2024. On the olympics.com website, it was mentioned that India won 3 bronze medals in Shooting and the total medals won by India till now is 3 as well. India is ranked 53 in the medal table with a total of 3 (bronze) medals.

This makes it clear that India has not won any gold medal yet in the Paris Olympics 2024.
Moving forward, using relevant keywords, we found a longer version of the viral video where the caption was, “Asian Games: Avinash Sable becomes 1st Indian to win 3000m steeplechase”
According to the video commentary, the video shows Avinash Sable winning the 3000m steeplechase at the Asian Games 2022.
It is worth mentioning that the Asian Games 2022 was held in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8, 2023. The games were originally scheduled for 2022 but were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We found the same video on the olympics.com website. It was mentioned there that the video shows Avinash Sable winning the gold medal in the 3000m steeplechase in the Asian Games that was held in 2023.

Moreover, the men’s 3000m steeplechase in the Paris Olympics 2024 has been scheduled for 5 August 2024. Avinash Sable will be participating in the Round 1- Heat 2 at 10:50 PM IST.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. India has not won any gold medal in the Paris Olympics 2024 yet. The video of Avinash Sable winning the gold medal is from the Asian Games 2022 that was held in Hangzhou, China from 23 September to 8 October 2023.
