Video from Andhra Pradesh Falsely Viral As Murder of Arvind Vaishya In Mumbai

A video of a murder on the street has been going viral in connection with the recent murder of Arvind Vaishya in Mumbai. The shocking video shows a man brutally attacking the victim with a sickle.

Claims suggest that the viral video depicts the killing of Arvind Vaishya, who was recently stabbed in the Rajivnagar area of Dharavi in Mumbai.

Fact Crescendo received fact-check requests regarding this video clip via our WhatsApp Tipline (9049053770).

The truth is that this video is unrelated to Vaishya’s murder. Instead, it relates to a separate and unrelated incident in Andhra Pradesh.

WHAT’S THE CLAIM?

A 21-second clip shows a chilling murder on a busy road. The perpetrator attacks the victim with the sickle and sever his hands.

The video of the assault has been shared with a caption that reads, “See how brutally Hindu Karyakarta Arvind Vaishya Was killed by this bastards Muslims gang.”

FACT-CHECK

A preliminary Google reverse image search on the key-frame of the viral video led us to several reports about this murder.

According to Indian Express, the victim was Sheikh Rashid (27) who was hacked to death on the main road of Vinukonda town in Andhra Pradesh’s Palnadu district on 17 July.

Rashid was a member of ex-Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress Party’s youth wing.

The Palnadu police identified the accused as Sheik Jilani, a worker of the ruling TDP. Police are searching for the accused, who is on the run.

NDTV reported that Jilani severed both of Rasheed’s hands before delivering a fatal blow to his neck.

District police chief Kanchi Srinivas Rao categorically denied any political reasons for the murder.

“The reason behind this murder is rooted in personal rivalry,” he said.

Arvind Vaishya Murder Case

Arvind Vaishya, a 26-year-old resident of Dharavi in Mumbai, was killed while attempting to resolve a dispute between two groups. Vaishya was fatally stabbed in the chest.

This incident took place a few days ago, in front of police officers who were in plain clothes.

Vaishya was taken to Sion Hospital, where he was declared dead, said police.

CONCLUSION

Hence, it is clear that the viral video does not depict the murder of Arvind Vaishya in Mumbai. In fact, it relates to the killing of Sheikh Rashid in Andhra Pradesh. Misinformation such as this can lead to misunderstandings and inflame communal tensions. Readers are encouraged to verify the facts before sharing or believing such claims.
