Devi Chitralekha Ji did not marry a Muslim man who was her driver. The viral claim is false.

An image of Devi Chitralekha Ji who is known for her Bhagwat Kathas is going viral on social media. Chitralekha Ji has many followers across the globe.  Social media users are claiming that being a devoted Hindu, she is spending time in the USA along with her Muslim husband. 

However, Crescendo found the claim to be false. Devi Chitralekha Ji did not marry a Muslim man. She got married to a Hindu man many years back with Hindu traditions. 

What’s the claim? 

Sharing the image, a social media user wrote, “She is Devi Chitralekha, who takes 25 lakhs for each spiritual meeting. She teaches us to detach us from money and other worldly things  while herself holidaying with her Muslim husband in the US.”

Fact Check- 

We found a tweet from 2020, in which a user claimed that Chitralekha Ji’s husband was actually a Muslim man and previously was her driver. Below you can see the tweet. 

From this it is clear that this is not a new claim. The same claim was viral previously also on various social media platforms. 

A relevant keyword search on Google, led us to Devi Chitralekha Ji’s official Facebook account. On 2 June 2020, a post refuted the claim of her husband being a Muslim. Further, it was written that Chitralekha Ji’s marriage was solemnized with Shri Madhav Tiwari, son of Arun Tiwari in Gauseva Dham Hospital premise as per Hindu customs and rituals. Madhav Tiwari belongs to Kashyap Gotriya Brahmin family of Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. 

Further, we also found Chitralekha Ji’s husband Madhav’s Facebook account. In a post from 2019, we found him sitting with his family in front of hindu deities and praying. 

We found an interview of Chitralekha Ji on Youtube, in which she clarified that she was well aware of the claims regarding her marriage on social media. She clarified that her’s was an arranged marriage. She refuted the claim of her husband being a Muslim and her driver. 

Conclusion: 

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. Devi Chitralekha Ji did not marry a Muslim man. She got married to Madhav Tiwari who belongs to Kashyap Gotriya Kanyakubj Brahman family from Chhattisgarh.
