Old Video Of A Man Spitting In A Glass Of Water Going Viral With Misleading Communal Claims.

A video of a man spitting in a glass of water is going viral on social media. It’s being claimed that the video shows an incident of Spit Jihad and the man here is Muslim. 

Sharing the video, a user wrote, 

” A brand new video of spit jihad (of July 2024) from Aligarh Court.

Even the judges of the court became victims of spit jihad.

Recently, SC judge said that Muslims maintain International Standards”.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the video is old and going viral with false communal claims. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. As a result, we found a video report published in The Times Of India on 29 May 2018. According to the report, the person spitting in the glass of water was a fourth-class employee, Vikas Gupta, who offered that glass of water to a lady civil judge. Following the incident, Vikas Gupta was immediately suspended.

Another report said that the judge placed a phone camera after he got suspicious and thus the incident came to light. The peon had been suspended with immediate effect.

From this, it’s clear that the viral video is not recent and the person shown in the video is not Muslim.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the video is going viral with misleading claims. The man spitting in the glass of water was Vikas Gupta, a fourth-grade employee in the judicial department of Aligarh and he was not a Muslim. Moreover, the video is not recent. The video has no communal aspect.
