Old video of a road submerged in water goes viral in the name of Ayodhya

The viral video has been available on the internet since 2023 under the name of Dubai; it is not related to Ayodhya.

The monsoon has caused widespread disruption across India. Mumbai and Delhi have experienced extremely heavy rainfall. The water level of the Saryu River in Ayodhya also has risen.  Against this backdrop, video is going viral in the name of Ayodhya. In the video, we see a broken road with heavy water flow. At the 16th second of the same viral video is another clip where people got stuck in a subway and a few people crossed the subway with their belongings in shopping trolleys. The users who shared the video claim that this video shows the plight after the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Fact Check- 

By conducting a reverse image search on one of the video’s key frames, we found that a part of the viral video on a YouTube channel. It was posted on April 21 and said to be from Dubai.

Next, we started searching for the second part of the viral video, and we found that it was uploaded on a Facebook page on 18 November 2023 with the caption “Dubai after rain”. 

Upon further search, we also found the full video on a YouTube channel. It was uploaded on 21 April 2023 and was said to be from Dubai. So, we can understand that the viral video is old and it is from Dubai, not from Ayodhya, India.

Keeping this in mind, we investigated further and found a tweets from Ayodhya Police and NCIB Uttar Pradesh official Twitter handle on 21 July, 2024. Ayodhya Police tweet states, “Ayodhya Police that denies the false news being circulated on certain Twitter handles and social media. The video shown in the tweet is not from Ayodhya. A case has been registered against the person who spread the misleading news. #UPPolice”

Conclusion- 

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be False. The viral video has been available on the internet since 2023 under the name of Dubai; it is not related to Ayodhya.
