Old video of a man spitting on Tandoori roti in Ghaziabad Dhaba goes viral linking to Kanwar yatra pilgrims

The video dates back to October 2021 and it is unrelated to Kanwar Yatra.

The Kanwar Yatra begins today (July 22), the first day of the Hindu month of Shravan. More than three crore Shiv devotees are expected to take part in the yatra this year. The Kanwar Yatra is an annual pilgrimage of devotees of Shiva, known as Kanwariyas.

After the UP police asked all eateries, shops and food carts along the Kanwar Yatra route to display their owners’ names in Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur and Shamli, chief minister Yogi Adityanath extended the directive to all Kanwar Yatra routes across the state on Friday.

Against this backdrop, a video of a Dhaba in Ghaziabad has gone viral on social media. In the viral video, one can see the man making the tandoori rotis, while several other kitchen staff were also standing and working. While making the round-shaped roti from the dough balls, the man can be seen spitting instead of putting oil or water to make the bread. Users who share the video are associating it with Kanwariyas and raising questions about why the entire Hindu community is being forced to eat this food
