Old video from Brazil shared as Ayodhya’s Rampath

The video is originally from Brazil’s Cascavel, and is from 2022. Not related to India.

The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended six officials of civic agencies for gross negligence following road cave-ins and waterlogging at several sections of the newly-built Ram Path in Ayodhya. About 15 by lanes and streets along the Ram Path were flooded after rain on June 23 and June 25. Against this backdrop, showing a woman falling into a giant pothole as the road she was walking on caves in, that is going viral on social media with the claim it is from Ayodhya’s Rampath.

The caption states, “This is the condition of the road ‘Rampath’ built in Ayodhya after the first rain. Its length is 13 kilometers. The total cost is 844 crores i.e. The company that built the road is from Gujarat, Bhuvan Infracom Pvt Ltd”.

Fact Check-

By conducting a reverse image search on one of the video’s key frames, we found the same video uploaded on Facebook on 3 June 2022. The description states, “On a busy avenue in Cascavel, in the Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza, a hole opened up in the sidewalk and “swallowed” a woman, on the morning of this Thursday. The moment was recorded by security cameras. In the images, it is possible to see that the pedestrian did not observe the signs before falling into the hole. The area was closed for maintenance work on the road. Fortunately, the woman only suffered minor injuries” (Translated from Portuguese (Brazil) to English).

So we can understand that the viral video is old and it is from Brazil, not India.
