Recently a video of a person dressed like Swami Vivekananda went viral on social media. The video shows that person starting his speech by saying, “Sisters and brothers of America”. Forwarding the video to our 24X7 Factline number 9049053770, a user wanted to know if the person was the real Swami Vivekananda.
However, as we investigated, we came to know that the person in the video was not the real Swami Vivekananda. Rather, it’s a clip from a movie. Here’s the fact check.

We took a closer look at the viral video and it looked like a scene from a play or a movie.
By using relevant keywords on Google, we found a video titled “Swami Vivekananda Chicago speech Recreation” on a YouTube channel called Vivekananda Samiti IIT Kanpur. The first 1 minute of the video was exactly the same as the viral video.
Further, we found a video uploaded on the YouTube channel of Sri Ramakrishna Math Chennai on 4 October 2018. The video was titled “Vivekananda By Vivekananda | Full Movie | Life History | English | Official”. We found the viral video at the 13:35 timestamp of the video.
After going through the description of the video, we are convinced that this video is from a movie produced by Sri Ramakrishna Math Chennai.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the person in the viral video is not the real Swami Vivekananda. Instead, this is a scene from a movie.
