The image shows five visible tentacles and a massive body, with numerous beachgoers nearby. The image claims to show an actual giant octopus found on an Indonesian beach.

The caption of the post states, “Giant octopus was found off the coast of Bali, Indonesia”.

However, the image is suspicious at first appearance, so let’s verify what the facts are.

Fact Check- 

We analysed the image carefully and we found several irregularities in the viral image akin to the ones seen in AI-generated images. In addition, we could not find any authentic sources or news reports confirming the image’s legitimacy. 

Then we conducted a reverse image search on google and found that the same image was uploaded on Instagram by the user best_of_ai_, known for experimenting with AI engines and digital art styles.

There are some tools available to check if an image is AI generated. When tested with such a tool (Hive AI Detector) , the results suggested that the image is 100% likely to be AI-generated.

From these evidences, it is clear that an AI-generated image of an octopus is being shared as a real image.
