This video is not recent; the viral video featuring Abbas Ansari dates back to 2022. It has no link to the recent 2024 general election.

A video shows the late gangster turned politician Mukhtar Ansari’s son Abbas Ansari threatening officers during a public meeting is going viral on social media. The video has been shared with a claim that the threat was issued following the results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In the video, he can be heard saying “I have made it clear to Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav that no transfers or postings will happen for six months. Whoever is currently in their position will remain there. Only after we have settled our issues will any transfer certificates be approved”

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation by a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to the same video uploaded on the official Twitter handle of ANI 0n 4 March, 2022 with a caption: “#WATCH | I’ve told SP chief Akhilesh Yadav that no transfers or postings will happen for 6 months as ‘hisab kitab’ will happen with them first and only then their transfer certificates will be stamped: Abbas Ansari, SP alliance candidate from Mau seat, Uttar Pradesh (03.03.2022)

Upon further search, we found several reports of this incident in The Times of India and India Today dated 4 March, 2022 . According to the TOI report, ‘A first information report (FIR) has been lodged against Abbas Ansari, jailed mafia don Mukhtar Ansari’s son and the Samajwadi Party and Suheldeo Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) candidate from Mau, for threatening officials from a public meeting in Uttar Pradesh’s Pahadpur’.

We also came across a tweet from Mau Police, dated March 4, 2022, mentioning the registration of a case against Abbas Ansari under sections 171F and 506 of the Indian Penal Code concerning the viral video.

So, we can confirm that this viral video predates the 2024 general election and the viral video featuring Abbas Ansari dates back to 2022.
