Against this backdrop, a disturbing video of a lady being brutally assaulted by a group of police personnel is going viral on social media. The video has been shared by several users with the captions like an American student is brutally beaten by the police for showing solidarity to Palestine.
The caption states, “This is the beating of a university student in #America protesting against global #Zionism in the so-called land of freedom and democracy. Witness the ‘valor’ and ‘chivalry’ of the Americans… truly, how honorable they are.”
Fact Check-
A reverse-image search on Google led us to a report on the Italian news organisation L’Unione Sarda published on 24 May 2023. It included the same viral video. The report states that Italian police assaulted a transgender woman from Brazil outside the Casa del Sole elementary school in Milan. She was naked and screaming at the children, claiming she had AIDS, which led to her arrest and detention by the police.
Milan police assaulting a Brazilian transgender with truncheons and pepper spray went viral in Italy as she had been found pestering kids at a school’s entrance. Four police officers tackled the transexual in the video, which several Bocconi University students recorded, before they handcuffed and removed her from the scene.
Moving forward we have come across the same video on Twitter handle of Radio Genoa uploaded on 24 May, 2023. The caption states, “I have AIDS, I infect you!” Brazilian trans molests children near a school in Milan and is arrested. Good work”.
Conclusion–
Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be False. The viral video is not recent and not from United States. The video depicts a transgender person being assaulted by police in Milan, Italy in 2023.
