The 2024 Met Gala red carpet has officially closed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and fashion’s biggest night has come to an end. The event was hosted around the newest exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” and the official dress code of this year’s gala was “The Garden of Time.” Following this Singers Rihanna, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga’s images from the Met Gala 2024 have gone viral on social media.

According to a report by People Magazine, Rihanna, a regular attendee and fashion icon at the Met Gala, unfortunately missed the 2024 event due to illness. As an exclusive source revealed, “Rihanna was unable to attend the Met Gala as she was sick with the flu.”

The Cosmopolitan report states that Lady Gaga also skipped the 2024 Met Gala. After winning hearts with her spectacular and unique dresses and looks nearly 5 years ago, Lady Gaga continued to remain absent from the event. She has not been attending the Met Gala since 2019. Her absence this year left her fans disappointed.

Katy Perry announced on her Instagram account that work commitments prevented her from attending the Met Gala. She also shared a conversation with her mother, clarifying that the widely circulated picture of her at the gala was AI-generated.

Moreover, upon further investigation, we discovered the same image was uploaded on Twitter as early as 20 April, 2024. It was accompanied by other edited pictures of her with a caption that translates to “What if Rihanna arrived at the 2024 Met Gala? Choose one.”

Likewise, we discovered the same viral image of Katy Perry posted on Twitter, 21 days prior to the Met Gala night.

Therefore, it is clear that the images circulating on social media could not be genuine images of the event. As per reports, aside from the three global singers, several anticipated celebrities did not show up, such as Taylor Swift, Jared Leto, Beyonce, Harry Styles, and others. 

We cross-referenced each performer’s social media profiles to see if there were any posts about their attending the Met Gala after verifying the images had indications that they were produced using artificial intelligence. Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna all stated they were unable to attend this year, and none of them posted any pictures from the event.

The images purporting to show Rihanna and Katy Perry and Lady Gaga at the Met Gala are AI generated. Despite the convincing nature of these images, Katy Perry has confirmed that she did not attend the event. Similarly, Rihanna and Lady Gaga reportedly couldn’t attend.
