Fact Check

In the viral video, the logo of the channel “Aaj Tak” can be seen and “#PanchayatAajTakUP” was written too.

Taking a clue from it we have conducted a keyword search on YouTube. As a result, we have found a video uploaded by the official YouTube channel of “Aaj Tak” on 7 August 2021. The caption of the video read, “CM Yogi Adityanath Exclusive I BJP Mission 300 I UP Election 2022 I Panchayat AajTak UP”. According to the description of the video, the topic of discussion was BJP’s Mission 300.

From the timestamp 30:00 to 30:45 the viral video can be seen. There Yogi Adityanath was answering a question about the deaths due to Coronavirus in the state, not about the diabetes medicine.

A comparison between the original video and the viral video can be seen below. This makes it clear that the audio in the viral video has been altered.

Moreover, we have found various reports on the viral video. On 11 March 2024, “Hindustan Times” reported that an FIR had been lodged and charges had been pressed against the Facebook profile responsible for posting the viral video.
