This video does not show CPI(M) leader Subhashini Ali praising PM Modi

The woman in the viral video is not Subhashini Ali, the CPI (M) leader. She confirmed to Fact Crescendo that the viral video does not feature her or reflect her political views.

Amid the ongoing 2024 Lok Sabha elections, a video of an older woman criticizing Rahul Gandhi and praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “beacon of peace.” is going viral on social media. Users who shared the video claimed that the woman in the video is Subhashini Ali, a leader of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI)M

Fact Check- 

We analysed the video carefully and found the logo of 99 Khabar on the microphone in the viral video, using this hint we conducted a keyword search which led us to a YouTube channel under the same name. We found a longer version of the viral video uploaded there on 29 January, 2024. The title, written in Hindi, roughly translates to, ‘Why beautiful girls are upset with Rahul Gandhi| Modi vs Rahul Gandhi Public Opinion| Loksabha Election 2024’. The woman in the viral video can be seen expressing her opinion in this video from the 6:55 to 8:00-minute timestamp.

However, the woman’s name or identity has not been reported in the video. We compared the image of the woman in the viral video with Subhashini Ali, you can see the comparison of both images below.

Upon further search, we found a clarification post made by Subhashini Ali on Twitter. She had reposted the viral video on 3 May and clarified that it was fake. She wrote, “This is a fake video attributed to me. Not me. Not my voice. Not my views. Have reported to ECI and police. Let’s see what they do.”

For more clarification we contacted and Subhashini Ali and she confirmed to us that the viral video does not feature her or reflect her political views. She has also filed a complaint to Police Commissioner, Kanpur on this matter.

Conclusion- 

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be False.  The woman in the viral video is not CPI(M) leader Subhashini Ali. She confirmed to Fact Crescendo that the viral video does not feature her or reflect her political views.
