An Old CEAT Tyres Ad Is Going Viral As Anti-Modi Ad.

An advertisement with the tagline “Modi Hatao Desh Bachao” is going viral on social media. The viral video, it’s showing a man refusing to pay for a shopping bag. He can be seen struggling to carry all the items himself. At the end of the video, the tagline is, “Paise Bachane Hai? Modi Hatao Paise Bachao; Modi Hatao Naukri Bachao; Modi Hatao Beti Bachao; Modi Hatao Democracy Bachao; Modi Hatao Desh Bachao” (Want to save money? Remove Modi, Save Money, Save Jobs, Save Daughters, Save Democracy, Save the Country)

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the viral ad is an old ad of CEAT tyres which has been edited and it has no link with the ongoing general elections. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search of the screenshots. As a result, we came across a video on YouTube which was uploaded on 22 February 2020 with the caption “Best ceat tyres popular ads compilation-LOVING INDIA”

The first 30 seconds of the video shows the viral video which is an ad for CEAT tyres.

The same video was found on another YouTube channel with the caption “#CEAT # Fuelsmarrt #Paise Bachane Hai ? # Funny Ads”

Moving forward, using relevant keywords on YouTube we have found the original ad on the channel of CEAT tyres.

From the videos, it is clear that it didn’t include any anti-Modi tagline as the viral video.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, it is clear that the viral video is edited. The original video was an ad for CEAT tyres. This has nothing to do with the ongoing election or PM Modi.
