The caption of the post in Hindi reads, ‘this is how they will cross 400 seats. If elections are conducted impartially then they will not even cross 4 seats’. However, upon investigation of the video, we discovered that it had been edited. Here’s the truth behind the viral video.
Fact Check
Upon close observation of the video, we noticed the watermark of an Instagram handle. The name ‘kalu Pradhan kota’ is visible on the video. Further examination of various other posts on X and YouTube that shared the viral video revealed the same watermark on all of them. Consequently, we searched for the Instagram handle on Instagram and successfully located it. Upon scrolling through the handle’s feed, we found the viral video.
In the caption of the video, the user clearly states, “Video Is Edited and Only For Entertainment Purposes.” Additionally, the user has posted another video where the voter casts a vote for BJP, but the VVPAT machine prints slips with the Congress’s Hand symbol on them.
Conclusion
Our investigation revealed that the video being circulated, purportedly showing a VVPAT machine printing a BJP symbol on the slip after a vote was cast for Congress, has been edited.
