Politics in Ladakh is heating up as sitting Member of Parliament (MP) of BJP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, who was denied ticket by the party last day. BJP declared Tashi Gyalson as the official party candidate from the Ladakh Lok Sabha seat. Against this backdrop, viral quote claiming to show Jamyang Tsering Namgyal asking the people of Ladakh to forgive him for joining the BJP and supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi has gone viral on social media.

Fact Check-
We discovered that the quote was falsely attributed to Jamyang Tsering Namgyal. He clarified that this is a fake quote attributed to him and he never made this statement. He addressed the issue over social media. The official Twitter handle of Namgyal posted a clarification about the statement falsely attributed to him on 25 April, 2024. He quoted the false attribution and wrote; “I want to clarify that I never said these words. I strongly condemn those spreading false statements by misusing my name. As a loyal BJP Karyakarta, I’ve always admired our most dynamic leader Sh. Narendra Modi Ji and all our leadership”.
Meanwhile, we looked into whether Tsering Namgyal had made such comments, but we could not find any credible news reports regarding the same.
So, we can understand that a fake quote is being falsely linked to Tsering Namgyal.
