Is Allu Arjun at the Congress election rally- what’s the truth?

The viral video was taken when Allu Arjun served as Grand Marshal at the India Day Parade in New York in August 2022.

Many Videos and images are going viral in social media regarding the 2024 general election. Currently a video of South Indian actor Allu Arjun is going viral on social media claiming that he is campaigning for Congress for the ongoing 2024 general elections. In the viral video, we can see the actor in a white suit sporting a tricolor stole and waving to fans in an open vehicle. The video features overlaid text that reads, “Jay congress vijay congress.” 

The caption states, “Allu Arjun the biggest super star of India is campaigning for congress party”.

Fact Check-

We started our investigation by conducting a keyword and reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a YouTube video uploaded by Allu Arjun’s official channel on 23 August, 2022. The video was titled “Icon Star Allu Arjun as Grand Marshal @ 40th India Day Parade in New York.”

We also found many news reports from August 2022 featuring similar images of Allu Arjun at the parade. As per the Free press journal reports, the actor represented India in the biggest annual Indian day parade in New York. As India marks its 75th year of Independence, the actor is acknowledged with the coveted title of Grand Marshall in the parade which was also shown on the LED Screens at Times Square. His wife, Sneha Reddy, joined the actor at the parade.

Meanwhile, we checked whether Allu Arjun had attended any Congress rallies, as alleged in viral posts, but no such information was received.

Conclusion-

Fact Crescendo found that the claim made along with the viral video to be False. The viral video was taken when Allu Arjun served as Grand Marshal at the India Day Parade in New York in August 2022. It has no connection to the 2024 general election or Congress.
