Fact Check-

A relevant keyword search led us to the same video on ANI News’ YouTube channel on 8th January 2018. According to reports, this incident happened in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district.

In this video we can hear BJP candidate Dinesh Sharma saying, “It happens. No matter how hard the public representatives work, there are many people who will remain angry. This will continue. They are my people and I am theirs. They may be angry for some reason, but I am like their child and this is their love for me. They did not tell me what was wrong with him. I will meet and ask them. But this is a rare thing. I am their child and at home parents abuse children. This is my family.

We also found a report published on the NDTV website in 2018. According to the report, a BJP candidate campaigning for Madhya Pradesh civic body elections faced an embarrassing situation when locals welcomed him with shoe garland. This incident took place in Dhamnod in Dhar district, about 272 km from the state capital Bhopal. An old man put a garland on him as the water problem in the locality was not resolved.
