Currently, an aerial image of thousands of people gathered on the street wearing yellow dress is going viral on social media. Users are claiming that these are people from Delhi who came out on streets in support of Kejriwal.
However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. This is an old image from Ethiopia and not of Delhi people supporting Kejriwal.
What’s the claim?
Sharing the image, a social media user wrote that the whole street is covered with the supporters of Arvind Kejriwal.
Fact Check-
Google Reverse Image Search led us to the same image tweeted by an user on 28 May 2023. The user claimed that the image to be of Chennai Super King’s (CSK) fans from Ahmedabad. Below you can see the tweet.
Further we found a CNN report from 2016. According to the report, many tourists and locals joined the annual Great Ethiopian Run held at Addis Ababa and EthioTrail Run in Abijatta-Shala National Park.
The above image was credited to the Ethiopia Tourism Organization. Upon searching, we found the same image was uploaded on the organization’s website. Ethiopia has been organizing similar 10km runs for the last 22 years. The purpose for this run is to raise money for various good causes.
Conclusion:
Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. This is an image of the 10km Ethiopian Run held in 2016 in Ethiopia. This is not an image of Delhi people rallying in support of Kejriwal.
