Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi was arrested by the ED on March 21 and subsequently remanded till March 28. Against this backdrop, an image showing a massive crowd is going viral on social media with claims that it shows a protest against the arrest of Kejriwal.

The caption states “People are on the streets against the arrest of Kejriwal”

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation by running a Google reverse image search and the results led us to a YouTube shorts uploaded on 20, June 2023. We found matching visuals there and the caption says that the crowd is from iconic Jagannath rath Yatra, Odisha. It is an annual chariot procession attended by lot of devotees in Puri, Odisha.

Upon further search we found that the same image was shared in June 2023 by the Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, on his official Twitter handle. The caption accompanying the image stated that it was taken during the Jagannath Rath Yatra.

Conclusion- 

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral image to be False. The viral image does not show any protest related to Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest. The image is old and is from the Jagannath rath Yatra in Puri, Odisha.
