Is this a recent video of alcohol found among the protesting farmers? Know the truth.

Farmers are continuing with their protest and currently gathered near Sambhu border. This led Haryana police to fire tear gas to disperse the protestors. 

Against this backdrop, a video of a TV reporter showing a cart filled with liquor bottles and snacks in a cart. The reporter can be heard saying, “See this, liquor bottles are coming out from the farmers group. These farmers are driving tractors intoxicated. Police are trying to make them understand but the farmers are trying to crush them. There are plenty of bottles including country liquor and snacks. Are these people protestors? Is this how farmers protest?”

Sharing the video, social media users are claiming that this is a recent incident during current farmers protest.

Fact Check- 

After a close look at the video, we found that the reporter is holding a TV9 News Channel mic. Below you can see the image. 

A relevant keyword search led us to the same video uploaded on TV9 Gujarati’s Twitter handle on 26 January 2021. According to the report, police had seized liquor from tractors. They also sat on the roads to block the protest. 

Apart from this, we also found the same video tweeted by another user saying that police had seized liquor from tractors. Protestors were also found swinging swords dangerously and rashly driving tractors under the influence of alcohol.

From the above facts, it is clear that the viral video is not from the recent farmers protest. This video dates back to 2021 farmers protest. 

We want our readers to know that in January 2021, farmers breached barricades and entered the Red Fort region in New Delhi while conducting a tractor protest against the newly formed agricultural bill that time. They were also found hoisting a flag near the Indian National flag on the Red Fort. Police had to fire tear gas and flash bangs to control the situation.
