An old video of an elderly woman scolding protesters shared linking to the current farmers’ protest

This video has no connection to the ongoing farmers’ protest in Delhi. It has been available on the internet since November 2022.

Farmer unions started their protest march to Delhi to force the Union government to meet their demands on 13 February. Amidst this, a video of an old lady scolding the protestors who are blocking the road and disturbing the common people has gone viral on social media.

The caption of the video states, “Punjab Public is Fed-up with daily blockades. An elderly lady from Punjab breaks down, slams andolanjeevi farmers – “Your Demand never ends, You want everything for free, The Centre is giving you so much for free” #FarmersProtest2024 #FarmersProtest”.

Fact Check-

For more information more about the video, we performed a reverse image search on Google and discovered that the video is old. This video is available on Facebook from November 2022.

According to the post given above, this old woman is lashing out at those doing protests in Punjab. On searching Facebook using the words in the caption of this post, we found many videos. 

A Facebook post by scrollpunjab, dated November 6, 2022 also carried the viral video of an elderly woman yelling at sit-in protesters.

So it is clear that the incident seen in this video has nothing to do with the current farmers’ strike. At present, farmers started their march to Delhi on 13 February . The details of the incident seen in the viral video are not available. The woman in the video says in Punjabi: “The government has waived your loan. You get everything for free. You got everything you asked for. Is there something wrong with us? What is wrong with us? “
