Is this a video of communal clash where Muslims in Rajasthan are beating the Hindus? Know the truth.

A violent video of some people beating others with sticks is going viral on social media. It can be seen in the video that a few people are barging inside houses and dragging people out and then attacking them. 

Social media users are claiming that this is a video of barbaric nature of Muslims where they are beating the local Hindus in Alwar, Rajasthan. 

However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. This is a video of a family dispute and there is no communal angle to it. 

What’s the claim?

Sharing the video, a social media user wrote, “Muslims entered the houses of Hindus in Alwar, Rajasthan and attacked them. Share it in all the groups. Bulldozer services need to be activated.”

Fact Check

A Google Reverse Image Search on a keyframe led us to the same video uploaded on an Instagram account on 27 January 2024. As per the information, this is a family dispute from Alwar, Rajasthan over land and properties. 5 people were critically injured in this incident. 

A relevant keyword search led us to a report published on Patrika News website on 18 January. According to the report, this incident took place at Thanagazi village of Alwar district. This was a fight between two sides of the same family over ancestral lands, house and personal enmity. More than a dozen people were injured in the incident and were taken to the hospital by police.

According to another report, a family fought over disputed land. More than 12 people were injured in this incident that took place in Thanagazi village of Alwar district in Rajasthan. 5 people were seriously injured and were referred to a hospital in Jaipur. Police arrested 7 people involved in this incident and are searching for the other 7 suspects. 

We also found a tweet by Alwar police. In this tweet police clarified that this is an old video and both the parties involved in the incident were family members and relatives. Both sides had registered a case in this regard and three people had been arrested so far.

Further, we contacted the SP office of the Alwar district. The police officer told us that the viral claim is false. There was a clash over a house between two groups of the same family, all of them are Hindus. A total of five people have been arrested in the incident.

Conclusion: 

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. Although the incident is from Alwar, Rajasthan, there is no communal angle to this. It was a clash between two groups of the same family over a disputed house and land. All the people involved belong to the same community.
