No, Ayodhya Ram temple is not being built away from Babri Masjid demolition site

The Ram temple in Ayodhya is not being built away from the disputed site. It was built on the same place where the Babri Masjid was.

Recently, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut in a press conference made a major allegation against the BJP government at the Centre. It was alleged that the Ram Temple was built in Ayodhya 4 km away from the Babri Masjid demolition site. We can see his press conference below.

Many people in the social media also made this allegation against the BJP. As a proof of this, a screenshot of a Google map is also being circulated.

In the above tweet we can see two locations on Google Maps. The first place is Sri Ramjanmabhoomi Temple in yellow circle and Babri Masjid in red circle. Many people have posted on social media raising the question why the church was demolished if there was no interest in building a temple on the disputed land.

Let us investigate how much truth there is in these allegations.

Fact Check-

We looked for the location in the screenshot on Google Maps. If you look closely at the screenshot, you will understand that the name of the mosque is written as Babar Masjid and not Babri. When we checked Babar Masjid on Google Maps, we got Sri Sita Ram Birla Temple. Near this temple someone has given a photo of Babri Masjid which has been interpreted as Babar Masjid.

But Shri Ram Janmabhoomi is not here. Sri Ramjanmabhoomi Temple is located at a distance of 750 km from this place. The Google Earth screenshot given below makes this clear.

We checked old satellite images of Ramjanmabhoomi Temple using Google Earth Pro. The oldest picture we got is from 2011. This picture can be seen below.

Through an online search we got some videos and photos taken before the demolition of the Babri Masjid. We have got a video on YouTube of the coverage of the Babri Masjid by The Eye Witness in 1992.

In this video we can see a pit near disputed land after destroying the mosque. We can clearly see this pit in the satellite images of Janmabhoomi temple from 2011 to 2020.

In the circle above we see the image of the pit seen in the video. The crater is clearly visible in a 2011 satellite image. An idol of Ram Lalla is placed right in front of this pit.  We also got an old picture of Babri Masjid in an article. In this picture we can see the church and many places around it.

If we compare this image with the satellite image of 2011, we can see that the land where the church stood is the same place where the temple is currently built.

In the above comparison we see the first building near the entrance and No:3 is the Babri Masjid. The structure near the entrance is shown in the red circle. No. 4 is a building called Sita Rasoi.

Also, we spoke to Banveer, a local journalist from Ayodhya, who told us that the Ram Temple is being built on the same site where the dispute was. The place shown as ‘Babar Masjid’ on the map is a small abandoned Dargah called Rahmania. He said that someone updated the picture of Babri Masjid there and changed its name on Google Maps, which led to suspicion.

Conclusion-

Fact Crescendo found that the viral claim is to be False. It is clear from the investigation that the Ram temple in Ayodhya was built on the same place where the Babri mosque was.
