The prasada laddus of Mahavir temple of Patna
Mahavir Mandir is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Hanuman, located in Patna, Bihar. The prasada laddus of Mahavir temple of Patna are famous all over the country. The making of this laddu as prasad was started in the temple in 1993. The special thing is that usually one lakh to 1.25 lakh kilos of this laddu is sold in a month and in festivals like Ram Navami, its sale is up to twenty five thousand kilos in a day. It was inspired by Tirupati laddu and almost all who make Naivedyam laddu in Patna are from South Indian states. They work in their traditional clothes in all seasons and are skilled in their work at Mega Kitchen of Naivedyam laddus. Everything is done using big machines except the making of the cardboard boxes. Due to its taste and hygiene maintained at the kitchen, the prasada was given the FSSAI BHOG certificate. The artisans make Naivedyam with complete purity. For this, a factory has been prepared in Buddha Marg of the capital. Here 64 artisans work in different batches every day. Sheshadri, the head of the artisans of Tirupati who make Naivedyam, says that all the artisans gather at 2 o’clock in the night before making the Prasad. After bathing, everyone performs puja and wears cleaned clothes and then makes Prasad. The artisans are busy working from 2 o’clock in the night to 2 o’clock in the afternoon. There is a capacity to make about 10000 kg Naivedyam in a day.
Meanwhile, we looked for any news related to Laddu for the Ayodhya Ram Temple’s inauguration and discovered a report from the Times of India dated January 6th. As per the report, “Devotees participating in the consecration of the Sri Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22 will be treated with Tirupati laddu, the famous prasadam offered to Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, which manages Sri Venkateswara temple, has decided to distribute about one lakh laddus to devotees in Ayodhya. The temple body is making arrangements to transport the prasadam to Ayodhya by road.
Earlier for Ram Temple foundation laying ceremony in August 2020, Patna’s Mahavir trust distributed 1 lakh laddoos.
