Currently, an image of Narendra Modi along with former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and other Congress leaders is going viral on social media. Users are claiming that this image was taken when Modi was a member of Congress. 

However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. This is an altered image. Image of Narendra Modi was digitally added to the real image. 

What’s the claim? 

Sharing the image, a social media user wrote, “Sir, turned out to be a Congress member. Bhakts, what will you say now?”

Fact Check- 

A Google Reverse Image Search led us to a similar image published on a website. But this image does not have PM Narendra Modi in it. According to the information, this image was taken around 1978 when rumor had arisen that Dr.Rajkumar had decided to contest against Indira Gandhi in the by-election.

The same image was also published on The Quint’s website in 2019. The description of the image reads, “Dr Rajkumar seen in the photo with former prime minister Indira Gandhi, at a Sangeetha Music event.”

Conclusion: 

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. The viral image was morphed. PM Narendra Modi is not there in the real image. This image was taken during an event where Indira Gandhi and Dr.Rajkumar were present.
