No. The little girl in the image is not the elder Muslim man’s wife

The viral image is from a Turkish Kindergarten (nursery school) where the elderly man is the headmaster and the girl is a student.

An image of a young girl posing with an elderly man has gone viral on social media. The image shows a young girl dressed in white gown and headscarf standing next to an elder Muslim man, the image is being circulated with the claim that the elderly man is the girl’s husband.

Fact Check-

We began our investigation using reverse image and keyword search on Google and the results led us to a tweet carrying the same image from 29August, 2016 shared by a film director named Murad Kobanoglu .The caption read that a kindergarten (play school) in the Turkish city of Elazığ was celebrating little girls’ transition to reading the Quran by dressing them in wedding dresses and headscarves.

In further search, we found a report in the Turkish newspaper SoL dated 20 2016 regarding the event. According to the report, a celebration of Quran reading was held in a kindergarten located in Elazığ, in which the girls were wearing wedding outfits and headgears. The kindergarten had said on social media that children who did not yet know how to read and write were learning the Quran through pictures and videos. The institute had organised a festival to celebrate the study of the Quran by the children. In this festival, the girls wore headdresses and wedding attire. The person seen in the picture is the headmaster of the kindergarten.

Milliyet, a major Turkish newspaper, also published a story related to this photo on May 20, 2016. It stated that the pictures were of a kindergarten in the Turkish city of Elazığ. 

Conclusion-
Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be False. The little girl in the image is not the elder man’s wife. The viral image is from a Turkish kindergarten (nursery school) where the elderly man is the headmaster and the girl is a student.
