The death of the most wanted terrorist Masood Azhar had captured the headlines. As per many media reports and social media posts, Masood Azhar died in an explosion in Pakistan a few days back.
Against this backdrop, a video of a bomb explosion on a busy street is going viral on social media. Users are claiming that this explosion was triggered by an unknown person in Pakistan which killed India’s most wanted terrorist Masood Azhar.
However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. This is an old video from Pakistan and not related to Masood Azhar.
A Twitter user wrote, “Most wanted terrorist Maulana Masood Azhar was returning from Bhawalpur Masjid and was killed by unknown people in an explosion. Salute to the unknown people of Pakistan”
Fact Check-
A Google Reverse Image Search led us to a screengrab of the viral video published on the India Today NE website on 3 November 2023. According to the report, this explosion followed by gunshots took place in Dera Ismail Khan City of Pakistan. It was targeted towards a police patrolling van in Tank Adda region. 5 people died and 21 were reported to be injured in this incident.
From the above facts, it is clear that the viral video is from the month of November last year. Hence, it is not possible that this video is related to Masood Azhar.
