Amid the ongoing Israel- Palestine war, an image of a blindfolded and handcuffed girl has gone viral on social media as a recent image from the ongoing war in Gaza. The caption of the post states, “PALESTINIAN GIRL TIED UP BY ISRAELIS”

Fact Check- 

We started the investigation with a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a report published on 2010. According to the report, Breaking the Silence has been interviewing former IDF soldiers since 2000 and has collected “at least a thousand” pictures in that period, pictures Yehuda Shaul insists reflect the default behaviour and attitude of IDF soldiers in the occupied territories. Breaking the Silence is an Israeli non-governmental organization established by veterans of the Israel Defense Forces.

Photos of an Israeli army officer posing with Palestinian prisoners can hardly be shocking to the Israeli Defence Force (IDF), according to human rights association Breaking the Silence (BtS), which says such pictures are taken almost every day.

“Taking a picture of themselves in front of a Palestinian prisoner is routine for these soldiers. This kind of behaviour demonstrates the way these people are broken down when they join the army.”

Keeping this in mind, we conducted relevant keyword search and found more details. The International Solidarity Movement, a Palestinian-led movement focused on assisting the Palestinian cause in the Israeli–Palestinian conflict has published an article in 2013, an interview with a clinical psychologist with the Torture Rehabilitation Centre in the West Bank. The report also carried the viral image.

These evidences confirm that the viral image predates the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. It has no link to the current war.

Conclusion-
