Are the President, Vice-President and Lok Sabha speaker bowing to PM Modi in the image? Know the truth.

Currently, a photo of President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President and Lok Sabha Speaker with Prime Minister Modi is going viral on social media. The photo shows the President, Vice-President and Speaker standing with folded hands while Prime Minister Modi is looking at them.

Users are claiming that while the President, Vice-President and Lok Sabha are showing respect to PM MOdi, the latter is not showing any respect and walked past them.

However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. The President, the Vice President and the Speaker of the Lok Sabha did not stand with folded hands in front of Narendra Modi. They were thanking the journalists and photographers after a photoshoot.

What’s the claim?

Fact Check-

We found ‘Tribute (Shradhanjali)’ along with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s image placed in the background. From this we came to know that this photo was taken during Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s punyatithi.

A relevant keyword search led us to a video uploaded on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official YouTube channel on 6 December 2023, the death anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. The caption of the video mentions that Prime Minister Modi paid floral tributes at Parliament House on Ambedkar’s death anniversary. You can watch the video below.

At the beginning of the video, we saw the Vice-President arriving at the venue while PM Modi was having a conversation with the Lok Sabha speaker. PM Modi welcomed and greeted him upon his arrival. After some time, we also found that President Draupadi Murmu also arrived at the location.

After the program started, everyone paid tribute to Baba Shaheb Ambedkar by placing flower garlands. After that they stood in a line to take photos. We found that along with Lok Sabha Speaker, Vice President, President and Prime Minister Modi, Ram Nath Kovind and some other leaders were also present.

From the 9.17 minute mark of the video, we can see everyone lining up for a photo. At 9.40 pm, everyone folded their hands and greeted the photographers along with Prime Minister Modi after taking the photo. A photo of the moment is going viral on social media with misleading claims.

Conclusion:

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be misleading. The President, the Vice President and the Speaker of the Lok Sabha did not stand with folded hands in front of Narendra Modi. They were thanking the journalists and photographers after a photoshoot.
