Is this a tweet from a Pakistan’s official confirming the death of Dawood Ibrahim? Know the truth.

Currently, Dawood Ibrahim is again on the top of the headlines on many mainstream media. According to many media reports, long time most wanted gangster Dawood Ibrahim was poisoned to death in Pakistan by an unknown person.

Against this backdrop, a tweet of a Pakistan official is going viral on social media. The tweet confirmed that Dawood was indeed poisoned by an unknown person after which he passed away. The tweet reads, “The Messiah of humanity, dear to every Pakistani, our beloved His Excellency Dawood Ibrahim passed away due to poisoned by unknown. He breathed his last breath in a hospital in Karachi. May Allah grant him the highest position in Jannat”

However, Fact Crescendo found that the tweet was from a fan account of a Pakistan officer Anwaar Kakar and not from his real official account.

What’s the claim?

Sharing the screenshot of the tweet, a social media user wrote, “Here’s the official confirmation: Dawood Ibrahim is dead.”

Fact Check-

First, we tried to find out whether this tweet came from the original official account. So, we looked for Anwaar ul Haq Kakar’s Twitter account. We found that the user name of Anwaar Kakar’s official twitter account is different from the one in the viral tweet. We also found a few grammatical errors in the screenshot of the viral tweet.

We also found that the account from which the viral tweet was posted was created a few months back whereas the original account of Anwaar Kakar was created in 2016. There is a major difference in the number of followers of both the accounts. Below you can see the difference.

Is Dawood Ibrahim Dead?

According to a Zee News report, Dawood Ibrahim’s close aide Chota Shakeel had refuted the claim of the demise of the former due to poisoning. Stating the claim to be just a rumor, he added that Dawood is absolutely fine and alive.

Times of India report states that Chota Shakeel confirmed that the claim circulating on social media is baseless and are just rumors. He confirmed the well-being of Dawood after visiting Pakistan. However, intelligence sources are suspecting a recent admission of Dawood Ibrahim at a military hospital.

Conclusion:

Fact Crescendo found that the tweet about the death of Dawood Ibrahim did not come from the official twitter account of Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s caretaker. The tweet was posted by a parody account.
