Fact Check-

Our investigation began with a reverse image search of key frames from the viral video, which led us to a report by News 18, dated 15 November, 2021 containing the viral video. According to the report, several videos of youngsters turning the flooded streets of Kanyakumari into a water park surfaced on social media as heavy rainfall battered the state of Tamil Nadu.

In further search we found a YouTube video uploaded on 15 November , 2021, containing multiple clips of people enjoying themselves in waterlogged areas with the caption, “Watch: Locals playing football, doing push-ups in gushing waters amid flood| Kanyakumari rains”

This proves that this clip predates the landfall of Cyclone Michaung in Chennai. Additionally, the description of the video stated that these clips were from Kanyakumari.

Kanyakumari heritage society also posted the same video on their Facebook page on 14 November, 2021.

According to reports, heavy rainfall hit different parts of Tamil Nadu, with 14 places in Kanyakumari recording rainfall of over 100mm within 24 hours on November 13, 2021.

From these evidences we can clearly understand that the viral video predates the landfall of Cyclone Michaung in Chennai and it is from Kanyakumari.
