Currently, a video of a mob marching on the street is going viral on social media. Users are claiming that this is an incident from Japan where the locals are protesting against Muslims and demanding to evacuate them from the country. 

However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be misleading. This protest is not exclusively for the Muslims but for the reformation of the immigration policy.

Sharing the video, social media users are claiming that Japanese people had taken out a rally against Muslims to throw them out of the country.

Fact Check- 

A Google Reverse Image Search on a keyframe of the viral video led us to a website in which multiple images of the same incident were published. According to the information, this rally was taken out against the immigration and diversity of the country. The protest was named ‘Japan for Japanese.’

This video was initially uploaded on a twitter handle on 29 November 2023. Below you can see the video. 

The same video was uploaded on a YouTube channel. According to the information, this rally was carried out by the Japanese people against the growing number of immigrants, diversity and multiculturalism in the country. The Japanese people are concerned about the country’s cultural identity and homogeneity. Their demand was for a more strict and restrictive immigration policy. 

According to another report, this protest was against the immigration policy. The protestors carried out a peaceful and silent revolution after their demands were not met. People wanted the policy to be restrictive but the policy has opened doors for more migrants resulting in the increasing diversity of the country. Instead of reinforcing a strict and unyielding status quo, the lively and impassioned protests serve as a form of communication or conversation.
