This viral video of Rohit Sharma’s daughter is not recent. It shows she is giving health updates about Rohit Sharma when he was down with COVID-19 back in 2022.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma shed tears after India’s loss to Australia in the Cricket World Cup 2023 final, marking his third attempt at becoming an ODI World Champion, following a semi-final loss in 2015 and 2019. After the loss, a video of Rohit Sharma’s daughter Samaira is going viral in which the little girl can be heard updating some fans about her father’s health. She is walking out of a building in the video with a lady when some fans enquire about her father. She stops to update them and says, “He is in a room, he is almost positive & within one month he will laugh again.”

Fact Check-

The reverse image search on Google with the key frames of the video brought us to the report by abp LIVE published on June 28, 2022. According to the report, “Ahead of the fifth test cricket against England, the Indian skipper tested Covid-19 positive in a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and was placed under isolation, the BCCI said”.

The report adds “A video of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s daughter, Samaira Sharma is winning hearts on social media where she tells about her father taking rest who tested positive from Covid-19 recently. Walking out of a hotel room in Leicester, Samaira waved hand towards the camera when she was asked by a person that where was his father. The toddler stopped for a while and replied “he is in his room” adding that “he got corona””.

This viral video is from June 2022. At that time, the Indian team went to England to play the only Test match against England. A few days before this match, it was revealed that Rohit was infected with COVID-19. After that this video went viral. 

In further search, we found several other media reports about this incident. On June 26, 2022, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced that Indian skipper had tested positive for Covid-19 and was quarantined. Sharma contracted the disease during India’s four-day practice match against Leicestershire.

From these evidences it is clear that an old video of Rohit Sharma’s daughter was falsely shared as recent.
